Input devices

Input devices are all those devices via which information can be supplied to a computer or panel. This enables interaction with a program.

SIMATIC HMI input devices are specially designed for operation on panels and industrial PCs in industrial environments. Trade goods, which are identified as such in the technical specifications, have been approved by the manufacturer for typical office applications. Siemens does not always carry out in-depth industrial testing on trade goods.

The following input devices are available for use with IPCs and panels:

• Membrane keyboard
• Removable keyboard
• Withdrawable keyboard
• USB mouse
• RFID components

RFID components make it possible to log on to a suitable HMI panel or IPC using a chip card.
The RFID reader is connected to the panel via USB. Installation is described in detail in the FAQs:

Suitable RFID system card types:

• ISO 15693, dimensions: 85 x 54 x 0.8 mm (L x W x H)
• ISO 15693, dimensions: 50 x 3.5 mm (D x H) disc
• MOBY E (MIFARE, ISO 14443), dimensions: 85 x 54 x 0.8 mm (L x W x H)
• MOBY E (MIFARE, ISO 14443), dimensions: 85 x 54 x 2.5 mm (L x B x H)
