The repeater is used to extend the AS‑Interface network. In this case there are AS‑Interface slaves and one AS‑Interface power supply unit on each side of the repeater.

In the case of a line topology with two repeaters and three extension plugs, the AS‑Interface network can be extended by 600 m overall, see topic "Benefits" → sample design with extension plug.
