Cost-efficient overall system

In a power system, reactive power is caused by inductive linear loads such as motors, transformers and reactors, and inductive, non-linear loads such as converters, welding equipment, arc furnaces or UPS systems. The sections for central reactive power compensation relieve transformers and cables, reduce transmission losses, and thus save energy.

Integrated savings potential

The reactive power compensation section is available either with or without a main busbar system. This enables the section to be directly integrated in the power distribution board with design-test approval. This eliminates the need for additional protection measures and cable connections between the power distribution board and the reactive power compensation. The entire height of the equipment compartment can be used for installing the controller modules, capacitor modules or group switch modules. The equipment compartment is closed with a section-high door with ventilation fins.

Optimized power system quality

An active filter module can be integrated in the SIVACON S8 power distribution board to improve energy or power system quality. These active harmonic filters eliminate harmonics and expensive reactive power, thus ensuring optimum power system quality and a sustainable reduction in energy costs. Active filters have to be adapted to meet special requirements.
