3VL molded case circuit breakers

Universally applicable and space-saving

Featuring a particularly compact design, the 3VL molded case circuit breakers meet all requirements placed upon space-saving electrical distribution systems – in a power range from 16 A to 1600 A.

Depending on requirements, the universal and communication-capable circuit breakers are available for line and motor protection, for starter combinations or as non-automatic circuit breakers. The respective trip units are available either as thermal-magnetic (16 A to 630 A) or electronic (63 A to 1600 A) trip units. With only two ranges of internal accessories, 3VL circuit breakers offer maximum versatility at minimum expense.

International standards and approvals

• The 3VL molded case circuit breakers comply with:
• IEC 60947-1, EN 60947-1,
• VDE 0660-100,
• IEC 60947-2, EN 60947-2,
• VDE 0660-101.
• Isolating features in accordance with IEC 60947-2, EN 60947-2.
• Characteristics as disconnector unit (main control switch) in accordance with EN 60204 (VDE 0113).
  In addition, the 3VL molded case circuit breakers meet the requirements as “disconnector unit with features for shutting down and disconnecting in the event of an emergency" (EMERGENCY STOP switches) in conjunction with lockable rotary operators (red-yellow) and terminal covers.

The overcurrent trip units of the circuit breakers for motor protection additionally comply with IEC 60947-4-1 and VDE 0660-102.

The circuit breakers VL160X to VL400 can be equipped with a 3VL RCD module. They thus comply with IEC 60947-2 Annex B. The 3VL RCD module conforms to IEC 61000-4-2 to IEC 61000-4-6, IEC 61000-4-11 and EN 55011, Class B (corresponding to CISPR 11) in terms of electromagnetic compatibility.

IE3 ready

As from January 2015 the energy efficiency class IE3 will be mandatory, with a few exceptions only, for three-phase asynchronous motors. This will have an effect on motors, low-voltage power distribution and electrical installation technology, as well as industrial controls.
