8UC7 door-coupling rotary operating mechanisms are used there where switches are installed in electrical controls, distributors and switchgear behind doors, covers or coverings which need to be opened and that need to be activated from the outside.

Interlocking conditions

The basic versions of rotary operating mechanisms comply with the following interlocking conditions:

• Operating mechanism and switch in "0" (OFF) position: the control cabinet door can be opened. The control cabinet door remains locked however when padlocks are fitted.
• Operating mechanism and switch in "I" (ON) position: The control cabinet door cannot be opened in this position. Interlocking can be put out of action by technicians however and the control cabinet door opened for control purposes. Padlocks cannot be mounted when in the "I" position.

Other interlocking conditions:

• If door interlocking is not required, the door interlocking plate on the rotary operating mechanism can be removed.
• The operator can also lock the rotary operating mechanisms in the "I" position with padlocks in a couple of easy moves. Afterwards the door cannot be opened, the drive cannot be actuated and the door interlocking system cannot be put out of action.

Operating conditions and ambient conditions

The temperature range for operation of the rotary operating mechanisms is between -25 °C and +60 °C.

Thanks to the use of glass fiber-reinforced molded plastic for handles and masking plates as well as metal components with surface protection, the rotary operating mechanisms are suitable for rough conditions, high air humidity and aggressive atmospheres.
